Shanghai-based aluminium and alumina producer East Hope, Zhuzhou Keneng New Material Co Ltd based in Zhuzhou in central China's Hunan province and Zhuhai Fangyuan based in southern Guangdong province also make the metal.

In the southern city of Zhuzhou on Saturday, activist Chen Siming was detained after he sent a tweet commemorating June 4, Human Rights Watch said.

Calls to the Zhuzhou public security bureau seeking comment went unanswered on Friday.
