Workers at Southern California warehouses DAX5 in City of Industry and DAX8 in Palmdale, as well as other warehouses in New York City, Atlanta and Skokie, Ill., have sought union recognition from the company.

Sean Franklin played at Highland High in Palmdale then won two MLS Cups, two Supporters’ Shield, was named the MLS rookie of the year and made an all-star team with the Galaxy.

That includes the cities of Lancaster and Palmdale, as well as surrounding areas.

The case is still pending, as is a lawsuit filed by the family of slain Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer, accusing the department of forcing their son to work so much overtime that he was too fatigued to stay alert and avoid threats — including one from the gunman who killed him near the Palmdale sheriff’s station.

A lieutenant at the Palmdale station announced this week that he will challenge Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna in the primary election, becoming the first opposition candidate in a race more than a year away.
