Some sculptures from the first Sonsbeek — including “Phoenix,” a symbol for the city’s emergence from the ashes, by Ossip Zadkine — still stand in the park.

He gets a lot more space, however, than the lesser-known Lipchitz, Ossip Zadkine, Moïse Kisling and Pinchus Krémègne, whose names are trotted out occasionally to remind us that the School of Paris contained more than three people.

Near the Jardin du Luxembourg is the Musée Zadkine, dedicated to the work of the sculptor Ossip Zadkine.

Mr. Zadkine, who spent his formative years in Montparnasse alongside Modigliani and Brancusi, nudged her work in a more abstract direction.
