Yellow Newtown

This is probably the original Newtown Pippin, but by no means the more common, which is the Yellow Newtown Pippin, to be described in another place.

In some of its external characters it more nearly resembles the Yellow Newtown Pippin than any other fruit; but, while it lacks the high, spicy flavor of that apple, it is found to be much more profitable in the orchard.

It considerably resembles the Yellow Newtown Pippin, with more tender flesh, and is scarcely inferior to it in flavor.

The Yellow Newtown is quite a large apple, and it is superior in quality to the Winesap.
