Carmel and Freedman have hired former Seattle Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu as executive vice president of baseball operations.

Servais will have done what a series of Mariners managers — Bob Melvin, Mike Hargrove, John McLaren, Don Wakamatsu, Eric Wedge and Lloyd McClendon — were unable to do.
