Viipuri

Born June 23, 1937, in the eastern town of Viipuri, which is now in Russia, Ahtisaari was a primary school teacher before joining Finland’s Foreign Ministry in 1965.

Ahtisaari was born in 1937 in Viipuri, now part of Russia, and his family was forced to flee when Soviet forces attacked when he was two.

The library was rebuilt under the Soviet Union between 1955 and 1962, and a second restoration begun in 1994, which was led by the Finnish Committee for the restoration of Viipuri Library.

Viipuri was ghostlike and still in the morning sun.

Russia also got back Viipuri, Finland's fourth biggest city.
