Winter pelage comes in first on the rump and spreads caudad and ventrad.

A moderately heavy dermal fold from posterior corner of eye above tympanum and curving ventrad to anterior edge of insertion of forelimb, covering upper edge of tympanum; tympanum round, its diameter equal to its distance from eye.

Hypognathous: having the mouth parts directed more or less vertically ventrad.

Ventrad: extending or directed toward the under side.

Lying at a considerable distance ventrad to the main body of the section, are seen the two sections of the small intestine, i, surrounded by irregular strands of tissue from the umbilicus.
