Utagawa Kuniyoshi

Among the exhibition’s most formally complex works are action-packed prints by two different 19th century artists, Utagawa Kuniyoshi and Utagawa Kuniteru, that illustrate stories involving such an evil creature.

Also on show are prints by Utagawa Kuniyoshi from the museum’s private collection.

Prints by the artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi set the scene, showing a mix of Western-style dresses and kimonos in of Yokohama, a port city.
