Co–Editor-in-Chief Toshio Matsumoto of the University of Tokushima told Science that Keio University, where Iwamoto was a lecturer, has not responded to inquiries from the journal.

His Liberal Democratic Party secured a parliamentary seat representing Nagasaki in Sunday’s vote but lost in a combined district in Kochi and Tokushima to a candidate backed by the main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan.

Always seen as Japan's backwater, Tokushima is not where you would expect to see the opening of a special new school for tech-savvy young entrepreneurs.

In April next year a school of tech entrepreneurship - the first of its kind in Japan - will open in the Tokushima town of Kamiyama.
