Eons later, in 1739, Louis-Jacques �ճ�é�Բ����� discovered how to make cobalt aluminate, better known as cobalt blue.

Chemist Louis Jacques �ճ�é�Բ����� created a synthetic version of the color in the early 1800s and it quickly became popular with artists like Vincent Van Gogh, who used it in “Starry Night.”

Inspired by the blue glazes used on 18th century Sèvres porcelain, initially reserved for the aristocracy, chemist Louis Jacques �ճ�é�Բ����� developed a synthetic, vivid cobalt blue pigment making it affordable for the masses.
