I’m at the Sverdlovsk Regional Courthouse in Yekaterinburg, just metres away from Courtroom 5A where US journalist Evan Gershkovich is on trial.

Russian media reported that Ksenia Karelina, a 32-year-old dual U.S.-Russia citizen, appeared by video link in Sverdlovsk Region Court in the city of Yekaterinburg, where Russian security officers arrested her on Jan 27.

"They don't know where he was shot. Somewhere in Sverdlovsk region. I've been given some tips at the Big House," Gerchikova said.

A total of over 54,000 hectares of forests in the Sverdlovsk region in the Urals were on fire as of Monday morning, according to local authorities.

Massive fires have also engulfed the Sverdlovsk region and south of it, the Tyumen region, in the Urals.
