Subroc

Just a few months earlier, in December 2020, MF DOOM’s wife revealed the masked-face villain had died two months before—a jarring announcement that couldn’t help but remind many fans of the 1993 death of the rapper Subroc, DOOM’s brother, in a fatal car accident.

In 1988, Dumile and his brother, Dingilizwe, who rapped under the names Zev Love X and DJ Subroc, respectively, co-founded the group KMD.

Subroc died shortly before the release of the second album.

He began his rap career in the late 1980s under the name Zev Love X as part of the group KMD, which included his younger brother DJ Subroc.

His early career, as a member of New York trio KMD, peers of the Native Tongues posse, foundered when his brother – KMD's Dingilizwe "Subroc" Dumile – was killed in a traffic accident in 1993.
