DJ Wayne D., 39, skater and co-founder of the Sk8 Pop Up: You can’t go to the rink on the West Coast and play Future because there’s a style of skating for the West Coast, and the West Coast music helps with the bounce of that style.

In the L.A. culture, Sk8 Man Joe was the first person out here who started that trend, and when he passed away, his son, Sk8 Man Rick, took over the business, Roller Skates of America.

Sk8 Man Joe was around in the late ’80s, early ’90s.

One of the other skaters did some artwork on mine, but Sk8 Fanatics are the go-to.
