The family of a Rancho Cucamonga resident who died after an encounter with San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies last year is suing the city and the Sheriff’s Department, alleging excessive force and wrongful death.

Rescuers responded to a 911 text message at 10:11 a.m. from the Whitewater Preserve area just south of San Bernardino County.

Centered in San Bernardino County, but just east of Los Angeles and Orange counties, it caused little damage.

Today, wild donkeys teem in areas of San Bernardino County, where they have become a safety hazard on local roads.

That month, to the east of Los Angeles, the nearly 44,000-acre Line fire ignited near the community of Highland before surging into the San Bernardino National Forest.
