He helped organise last year's Restore Nature Now march which brought tens of thousands of people onto the streets and was supported by a whole range of nature focused organisations including big charities like the National Trust and RSPB, as well as campaign groups like JSO.

Fewer starlings are visiting UK gardens, according to the conservation charity, the RSPB.

Steve Rowland, an area manager for the RSPB, said pellets the size of lentils were washing up along miles of the Norfolk coast.

More than 1,300 protected birds of prey – from hen harriers to golden eagles - have been killed across the UK over the past 15 years, according to the RSPB.

"That means if any offences occur on a particular shoot that estate can lose the ability to shoot on there. The licence is revoked for a number of years," explained Mark Thomas, the RSPB’s head of investigations.
