If I was looking at 2025’s Rosetta Stone, after all, it was not likely to be highly melanated.

Actor Émilie Dequenne, the Belgian star whose career included several TV series and dozens of films including the Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or winner “Rosetta,” has died.

She began her professional acting career at 18 with a starring role in brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s “Rosetta.”

Dhont added: “I can’t put into words how much I’ve learned from you. ������ an honour to be by your side. I will carry you with me Émilie, Rosetta, Sophie, and all the other women you’ve portrayed so carefully.”

Dequenne revisited “Rosetta” at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival for the movie‘s 25th anniversary celebration. In an emotional interview with French talk show “C à Vous,” she spoke about celebrating the film’s milestone amid her cancer battle.
