On a sunny Saturday morning in mid-October, former Hempstead Town Supervisor Laura Gillen gathered volunteers for a canvassing kickoff event in Rockville, NY, a town in the southwest of Nassau County and near the center of the Fourth District, which Gillen is hoping to represent in Congress next year.

“You’re guiding them but you’re not giving them all the answers,” said Mary Alvord, a cognitive behavioral psychologist in Rockville, Md., and co-author of “The Action Mindset Workbook for Teens.”

The tribe recently led an effort with the Solano Land Trust to change the name of 1,500-acre Rockville Hills Regional Park to Patwino Worrtla Kodoi Dihi — meaning “Southern Rock Home of the Patwin people.”

“As soon as they mix the flour with water, an 18-minute clock begins,” said Raskin, who is director of the JCrafts Center for Jewish Life and Tradition in Rockville, Maryland.

Piringer said that since the fire was contained, officials were focused on monitoring the air quality in communities near the Rockville industrial site.
