It’s made in Germany from organic pinot noir, merlot and St. Laurent grapes in partnership with the Strauch Distillery in Rheinhessen.

Along with a new cast of grapes, looking at Germany’s diversity also requires a new look at its wine geography beyond the quintet of prime riesling regions: Mosel, Rheingau, Pfalz, Nahe and Rheinhessen.

The winery’s excellent higher-end rieslings come from several limestone sites in Rheinhessen.

Having sipped and sampled wine in Oregon’s Willamette Valley to Germany’s Rheinhessen region, through Santa Barbara, Sonoma and Bordeaux, I never dreamed I’d live in a wine town.
