The surprise message were noticed over the weekend in Palo Alto, Redwood City and Menlo Park - which is home to Zuckerberg's sprawling Meta campus.

Local media also reported that several crossings in the Redwood City area were also hacked to sound like the two billionaires.

In Redwood City, city officials said they knew of four locations with hacked crosswalk signals, said deputy city manager Jennifer Yamaguma.

A series of viral videos posted on social media showed crosswalk speakers playing derisive messages about billionaire tech giants Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg in Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Redwood City as perplexed onlookers laughed.

The same is true for much of Alameda; sizable chunks of Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond and Marin County; and some areas in and near Silicon Valley, including northern sections of Redwood City and Burlingame.
