Premier Cru

Louis Latour Meursault Premier Cru "Château de Blagny" 2022 is a nice bottle of white Burgundy that pairs well with seafood.

If you’re lucky, a bottle of Waris-Hubert Rosé Premier Cru will be opened, a crisp, elegant bubble.

Look for “premier cru” or “grand cru” on Champagne labels noting top vineyards, as in the Krug Grande Cuvée Brut.

Burgundy has seven regional appellations, 44 villages, 662 vineyards designated as premier cru and 33 grands crus.

Most of those vineyards judged in the 19th century to be peers of Clos de la Perrière, like Musigny, Bonnes Mares and Chambertin, received grand cru status, but not Clos de la Perrière, which the authorities deemed a premier cru.
