Photius

After several articles and brochures on Hippolytus and the question of the authorship of the Philosophumena, he turned to the study of Photius, patriarch of Constantinople, and the history of the Greek schism.

Agapius, according to Photius, maintained that this divine tree, in Paradise, was Christ himself.

Both it and the original work are lost, with the exception of the excerpts in Photius and Suidas.

He refrained, for instance, from displeasing Basilius, when this emperor, having been reconciled to Photius, wished to replace this prelate in the patriarchal chair of Constantinople, which the death of Ignatius had left vacant.
