Around noon, López was shot to death outside the ice cream shop on Parthenia Street in Northridge as he painted over gang graffiti, police said.

The victim had been hired to paint over “gang graffiti” on the wall of Northridge Ice Cream on Van Alden Avenue near Parthenia Street, according to police.

Officers responded to the shooting in the 19100 block of Parthenia Street about 12:30 p.m., according to a police statement.

A gunman opened fire Saturday afternoon on four men, killing one and injuring the others, near a strip mall on Vanalden Avenue and Parthenia Street in Northridge, authorities said.

Granddaddy Charles was born to Reak Henry Green and Parthenia Smith Green, my great-grandparents, in 1922.
