The world premiere of a work for orchestra and choir by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Ellen Reid is on the schedule, as well as a premiere of Angélica Negrón’s Cello Concerto with Yo-Yo Ma; and new editions to Dudamel’s Pan-American Music Initiative — now its fifth year — which is close to the conductor’s heart.

In 2005, the Pan-American Health Organization and the United States Centers for Disease Control held a seminar in Bogotá that led to the launch of the Network of Recreational Ciclovías of the Americas, with an annual meeting and a how-to manual.

“We had the Pan-American Games, the Olympic Games, the World Cup, thousands of Olympic promises and environmental legacies that ended up not happening,” he said.

After three months away, Dudamel is back for a month to revive ‘Fidelio’ and oversee his Pan-American Music Initiative.

The focus of the tour is Dudamel’s Pan-American Music Initiative.
