He goes down to the homelands to remind settlers in the area that the Muscogee survived despite the United States attempts at genocide and demos making canoes and bows the traditional way out of local wood during the annual Ocmulgee Indigenous Celebration.

Brown regularly travels to Georgia and Alabama to visit the proposed Ocmulgee Mounds National Park and Preserve — located on Muscogee homelands.

The proposed Ocmulgee Mounds Park and Preserve would be Georgia’s first national park.

The area along the Ocmulgee River downstream from Macon in central Georgia includes mounds and other cultural or historic sites of significance to the Muscogee.

“This bill reflects the voice of a multitude of Georgians who wish to elevate the Ocmulgee Mounds to its proper place as one of America’s National Parks,” said Rep. Sanford Bishop, a Georgia Democrat who led the congressional effort with Republican Rep. Austin Scott and Ossoff.
