In addition to the $2.94 billion payment, NBG said QNB will repay $910 million of debt that the Greek lender had provided to Finansbank.

A QNB spokesman confirmed that it would replace the $910 million of debt from NBG with another obligation.

“As a result of this transaction, NBG will be the best capitalized and the most liquid bank in Greece,” said NBG Chief Executive Leonidas Fragkiadakis.
