Since losing the 2024 election to Trump, Harris has made few public appearances — visiting firefighters and volunteers at the devastating Los Angeles-area wildfires, watching Broadway plays in New York City and accepting an award from the NAACP.

“Soaps have been around for almost a hundred years. It’s the genre that never dies,” said Ducksworth, who is both executive producer on “Beyond the Gates” and president of the CBS Studios/NAACP venture, which developed the series.

Derrick Johnson, president of the NAACP, said the organization is aware of the alert issue and has heard from residents who live in Altadena neighborhoods that didn’t receive the evacuation warnings until hours after other nearby neighborhoods did.

This is a movement built by a collection of diverse coalitions and unity, and we are proud to stand together with our partners like NAACP, Planned Parenthood, Climate Power, Alliance for Youth Action, and so many more.

In a statement Derrick Johnson, head of the civil rights group NAACP, said: “These actions are not normal.”
