After a show at Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin earlier this year, Quarles debuted a new body of work titled “Come In From an Endless Place” at Hauser & Wirth’s Minorca outpost in June.

While not getting many prestige tournament invitations, Niemann has had a burst of activity this spring, tying for first at a strong open event on the Spanish island of Minorca, tying for third in the Kazakhstan Chess Cup event organized in conjunction with the recent world championship match in Astana, and competing this week in a yet another open event in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The compounds themselves are produced by flora native to Minorca.

The hair, found inside wooden containers hidden deep within a sealed grotto on Minorca, an island off the coast of eastern Spain, tested positive for a number of mind-altering compounds, suggesting that the people who lived there 3,000 years ago incorporated hallucinogenic experiences into the rituals of their lives.

Ms. Kaili and Mr. Giorgi documented their lives in social media posts that exuded success and confidence: sailing in the Aegean Sea, skiing Mont Blanc, visiting mosques in Oman and drinking cocktails in Minorca.
