Medicine Bow Range

Farther to the west lies the Medicine Bow Range, or, as the Indians so picturesquely named it, the "Never Summer" range.

Ranch-hand Alvey, a rugged man of 37, remembered how the red. single-engined Taylorcraft had headed in between two peaks of the Medicine Bow Range.

From E. u. montanus, the subspecies from the Medicine Bow Range of south-central Wyoming, E. u. umbrinus differs in: Over-all tone of upper parts darker; sides darker; skull smaller.

E. u. montanus, the subspecies from the Medicine Bow Range of south-central Wyoming, E. u. fremonti differs in: Over-all tone of upper parts darker; underside of tail darker; feet darker; sides darker.

Remarks.—Although in Wyoming this subspecies is known only from the Medicine Bow Range, one would expect to find it occurring in the Snowy Range and the Laramie Range as well, since there seems to be suitable habitat for this subspecies in those mountain ranges.
