With the election of Rep. Sarah McBride, Mace went all-in on making the first transgender representative in Congress as uncomfortable as possible.

She was a driving force behind rules that barred McBride from using the women's restrooms on Capitol Hill.

“People want ideological statements and positions from their representatives in national government,” said Keally McBride, an Oakland resident and politics professor at the University of San Francisco.

Mr McBride also attacked Ms Stern's attorney Tony Buzbee, who is representing dozens of victims alleging sexual assault against Sean "Diddy" Combs, calling him a "lowlife bottom feeder".

"Andrew's legal team stands ready to defend him fiercely in court, where the truth will expose this baseless scheme," Joseph McBride told the BBC.
