With panoramic views of Leeds, stylish decor and an on-site gym, new parents Enrico and Luciana Marini were dreaming of their future life in their city centre flat.

With two older sisters, Marinis often watched TV shows that were slightly inappropriate for her age — like “Friends,” “Beverly Hills, 90210,” “The X-Files.”

“A little earlier, we might not be in this situation,” Marini said.

“I don’t want my bare feet on that,” says ranger Anna Marini as she shows her thermometer gun reading to a couple visiting from Switzerland, who are appropriately awed.

In 2021, ranger Anna Marini formalized the park’s Preventative Search and Rescue Program, one of the first in the national parks system to be overseen by a dedicated ranger.
