The evacuation plan unveiled on Wednesday identifies 150 routes out of Vilnius and assigns neighbourhoods with specific evacuation points, Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT reported.

“Unfortunately, we have information that such acts of sabotage can happen again,” Nauseda told public radio LRT.

The mayor of Pasvalys district, Gintautas Geguzinskas, told LRT that he didn't have any concrete information on the cause of the blast, but said that local residents had told him "they saw some work being done near the pipeline where the explosion happened".

Video published by Lithuania's public broadcaster LRT showed a fire raging at the blast site in the Panevezys county in northern Lithuania.

Lithuanian broadcaster LRT said that the village of Valakeliai , with about 250 inhabitants, was being evacuated as a precaution.
