Little Missouri

In June 2010, 20 campers, including eight children, died when the Little Missouri River rose more than 20 feet within hours.

The Roosevelt Creek Fire in the Little Missouri National Grassland and a fire on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation together have burned nearly 19 square miles of remote terrain.

The tribes bought the roughly 9,300-acre ranch that borders the reservation’s west side between Lake Sakakawea and the Little Missouri River in 1999, and converted it to a bison ranch.

The agency plans to start working on a new four-lane bridge to intersect the Little Missouri River south of Watford City this spring or summer.
