Let there be light

The third verse of the Torah says, “Let there be light,” emphasizing its centrality to creation.

“On one hand, yes, the world needs to heal before I can do that. But I also feel, we’re gods, and we need to heal ourselves first. And then, everything else will fall into place. It’s almost like we say, ‘Let there be light,’ but then the light comes and we don’t see it, because we’ve been in the dark so long.”

While the James Webb Space Telescope is a secular achievement, the pioneering telescope nevertheless conjured up that Biblical imagery of "Let there be light!" with its most recent revelation: There could have been hundreds of ancient galaxies at the universe's beginning, instead of only a handful, and we can still see some of that light that shone at the time.

As if awaiting the dawn of that first day of Creation, he intoned the promise of the possible: “The fiat of the Almighty, ‘Let there be Light,’ has not yet spent its force.”
