Leonora

Leonora, a cinematographer from Belarus said it was brilliant and she had cried all the way through Ms Mason’s speech.

Davidsen is in the midst of a landmark season that included her first staged performances in the title role of Janáček’s “Jenůfa” in Chicago last November and her role debut as Leonora in the Metropolitan Opera’s new production of Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino” in February.

Though she made her debut as Leonora in Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” in 2010, her history here goes back to the beginning of the century, when she participated in the Young Artists Program.

There were moments when the anguish of Leonora, the heroine of “Forza,” would have been more crushing if her lower notes had earthier fervor.

His “Forza” opens on Feb. 26 with a cast that includes soprano Lise Davidsen as Leonora, tenor Brian Jagde as Don Alvaro, baritone Igor Golovatenko as Don Carlo, and bass-baritone Soloman Howard as both the Marquis de Calatrava and Padre Guardiano.
