Komensky Elementary School’s principal, Jeremy Majeski, whose school is less than an hour from Palatine, Ill., said that his district has so far made decisions about how to treat transgender students on a case-by-case basis, in consultation with their parents.

Anthony Dewayne Harris, 22, of the 1600 block of South Komensky Avenue, was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, armed robbery with a firearm and criminal trespass to a vehicle, police said.

At about 7:35 p.m. a 25-year-old man was shot on the 1600 block of South Komensky on the West Side, police said.
