By his next stop in the Tar Heel state, the 78-year-old appeared even more exhausted, turning in what local outlet NC Newsline described as a “disjointed” appeal for votes in the small city of Kinston.

In addition to the Belfast A220 wing plant, those include a plant in Kinston, N.C., purpose-built to manufacture fuselage panels for the A350 and a plant in Saint-Nazaire, France, that assembles the fuselage sections from those panels.

Charles Kinston, 23, was found on land off Brizlincote Lane, Bretby, near Swadlincote, on 29 January.

Derbyshire Police said officers had been called to the field about 18:30 BST and Mr Kinston was subsequently pronounced dead.

Leicestershire Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs described Mr Kinston as a "kind and generous character".
