King Horn

The game is based loosely on the Old English tales of King Horn.

King Horn is a heroic poem or gest of 1546 lines dating from the 13th century.

Such was the case with the ancient gest of King Horn.

There is a ballad of the young Hynd Horn which comes from the old narrative poem of King Horn or of Horn Childe.

King Horn is remarkable for its metre—short rhyming couplets, but not in the regular eight-syllable lines which were imitated from the French.
