A number of texts recount the child’s miraculous birth, detailing how the baby was received by the gods Indra and Brahma, and took seven steps soon after he was born.

All three are about our relationship with the natural world: “On Behalf” was concerned with ecology; “Cellular Songs,” with collective care; “Indra’s Net,” with connections.

For example, “The Unknown Island” and “The God With Four Arms” relate unfortunate encounters with, respectively, Medusa and the Indian deity Indra.

“Indra’s Net,” which will feature 18 artists from galleries from Asia to Latin America, is a chance for smaller galleries to get a bit of the spotlight at a major art fair.

“There is a lot of room to grow in the understanding and appreciation of the culture,” said Indra Kantono, Rosemead’s owner.
