In the Seattle case, the other union involved is the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, known as the IAMAW.

Under the umbrella of the IAMAW, about 350 Longview employees are represented locally by the Woodworkers Local 536 union.

“This isn’t Starbucks, where you have 10 employees and can make the decision to organize quickly,” says Dave DiMaria, a representative for IAMAW.

On Tuesday, organizers at the store announced their intentions to unionize with the IAMAW.

On Wednesday night, a majority of a group of 27 technicians at an Amazon fulfillment center in Middletown, Del., voted to reject an initiative to form a union under the auspices of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, according to John Carr, a spokesman for the IAMAW.
