Logan O’Hoppe hit a grand slam to give the Angels a seventh-inning lead, but the Cardinals scored nine runs in their last two turns at the plate to rally.

The core is led by the two players with their faces on giant posters outside the front gate of Angel Stadium: shortstop Zach Neto and catcher Logan O’Hoppe.

And O’Hoppe, who has yet to play on a winning team in three big-league seasons, says that’s the mindset in the clubhouse.

The Angels’ offense has sputtered as a result, despite young players such as O’Hoppe, shortstop Zach Neto and first baseman Nolan Schanuel showing promise.
