After promising during confirmation hearings that he would not alter the U.S. childhood vaccinations schedule, Kennedy told HHS employees in February that he plans to investigate childhood immunizations.

In addition, the draft budget calls for terminating an array of HHS initiatives dedicated to helping families with newborns and young children.

The inescapable conclusion is that Kennedy’s HHS is in the grip of a pseudoscience revolution in which misinformation and disinformation are ascendant.

“The extreme cuts at HHS also impact environmental health, sexual health, and sexual violence prevention programs as well as health and safety regulatory bodies,” Barreto said.

It remains unclear how HHS will handle the additional responsibility of providing services for people with disabilities, especially considering the 10,000 jobs that were recently cut.
