Prior to his death, the musician was seen in social media videos collapsing onstage during a show in Hamden, Conn. Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett said on Facebook that the rapper “had a medical emergency on stage” and was taken in an ambulance to a hospital.

In early September, the town of Hamden hosted a candlelight vigil for the rapper at Town Center Park where he performed his final concert.

The performer, born Isaac Freeman, appears in social media videos collapsing Friday night onstage in Hamden, Conn. The town’s mayor, Lauren Garrett, said audience members and paramedics at Town Center Park attempted “life-saving assistance” to no avail.

He was halfway through his set at the Town Center Park in the city of Hamden when he collapsed on stage.

A judge imposed the punishment on Kevin McCormick, 30, a former Hamden resident, in federal court in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where the U.S. attorney’s office called for a 20-year prison term.
