Gustavus III

After the revolution of 1772 he re-entered the senate at the particular request of Gustavus III., but no longer exercised any political influence.

One of the most cunningly devised impostures of the kind was practised upon King Gustavus III. of Sweden by ambitious noblemen of his court.

It absolved them from their allegiance to the estates, and bound them solely to obey their lawful king, Gustavus III.

He accompanied Gustavus III. in his Italian tour and returned home with him in 1784.

Now, when the reader recollects the death of Gustavus III., and the doom of Ankarstrœm, his assassin, they will find more than a mere coincidence between that event and the circumstances of this extraordinary prophecy.
