Grand Canyon National Park

Long queues of cars were stuck outside Grand Canyon National Park over President's Day weekend, one day after the mass firing, due to a lack of toll operators to check people in at the gate.

In the statement, Grand Canyon National Park staff encouraged people to stay within designated trails and walkways, and to stay at least six feet away from edges.

No uranium mines are operating in Arizona, although the Pinyon Plain Mine, just south of Grand Canyon National Park, has been under development for years.

Those expected to work in another potential shutdown include members of Grand Canyon National Park’s emergency services, which has teams trained in medical services, search and rescue and firefighting.

Park search and rescue workers came to his location via helicopter in order to render further aid, but attempts to resuscitate him failed, Grand Canyon National Park officials said.
