Glamis Castle

From childhood summers at her mother's ancestral home, Glamis Castle in Angus, to formal duties at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, she spent a great deal of her long life in Scotland.

She was, after all, half Scottish herself via her mother, who was born and raised at Glamis Castle in Angus.

Besides spending her summer months at Balmoral, her mother, the late Queen Mother, was Scottish and as a child the queen grew up playing on her grandparents’ estate of Glamis Castle in central Scotland.

The queen's mother, also called Elizabeth, was from a Scottish family, who lived at Glamis Castle in Angus.

Nearby is Glamis Castle, the ancestral home of the late Queen's maternal grandparents and a place where she is said to have spent many happy childhood holidays.
