Fox Talbot

Among the images is a print of a cat dating back to the 1830s by photography pioneer William Henry Fox Talbot.

One innovator, William Henry Fox Talbot, wrote in 1839 that he thought he had discovered something that might have "many useful and important applications".

The photographic processes devised by such 1830s pioneers as Louis Daguerre and William Fox Talbot were influential but soon abandoned.

Lacock Abbey, one of many locations to become Hogwarts, is a country house with monastic roots and was once the home of William Henry Fox Talbot, inventor of the photographic negative.

In 1839, Daguerre in Paris and William Henry Fox Talbot in London separately debuted their photographic processes: Daguerre on silver-coated plates, Talbot on paper.
