The suspect, identified only as Mahmoud A. in line with German privacy rules, was arrested on Wednesday in Esslingen, near Stuttgart in southwestern Germany, federal prosecutors said in a statement.

The German news agency dpa quoted the public prosecutor’s office in Stuttgart as saying cyber specialists in the southwestern town of Esslingen were decisive in penetrating Hive’s criminal IT infrastructure after a local company was victimized.

The companies said Thursday their fuel cell joint venture, cellcentric, is carrying out preparatory work at a facility in Esslingen, Germany and that a decision on a location for large-scale series production will be announced in 2022.

Aged in their late-80s to mid-90s, they are among the last of just a few hundred remaining survivors, and told their stories from their homes in Melbourne, Montreal, Frankfurt, Berlin, and Esslingen, Switzerland.

They made their way across Germany surviving seven months of bombing, and after the war spent two years with a Latvian refugee camp in Esslingen, near Stuttgart, before immigrating to the United States in 1948.
