The gift of the traditional shamrock bowl was given a warm reception by the president, while the vice-president's attempts at celebrating the heritage of the Emerald Isle was less so.

O'Donnell shared earlier this week that she moved to the Emerald Isle shortly before Trump's inauguration, saying it was "best for myself and my 12-year-old child."

She says this visit marks her 21st time in the Emerald Isle.

The Emerald Isle will almost certainly retain some representation in top level US politics when Joe Biden leaves the White House in January.
