“Child abuse has no place in our society and such acts of violence are beyond the pale, Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. George Gascón said in a statement. “Children are some of the most vulnerable in our society, and every child is entitled to safety and protection as a human right.”

School officials also have “spoken to Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. George Gascón,” he said, “to solicit his help in ensuring that the instigators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

“Dist. Atty. Gascón strongly rejects the contention that he uses demotions or internal disciplinary matters to punish his critics. Such actions would be inappropriate and in violation of the law and are not condoned or performed by this office,” said Tiffiny Blacknell, the office’s chief spokeswoman.

“Bonta, like his close ally L.A. Dist. Atty. George Gascon, is hostile to law enforcement and no friend to crime victims.”

“His appointment makes it more likely that Dist. Atty. Anne Marie Schubert will run to give voters a real choice.”
