In March, SLT members joined a protest that aimed to disable under-construction irrigation reservoirs that will pump groundwater for large farms in a drought-hit wetland in Deux-Sevres in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region.

Two people were injured in the town of Deux-Sevres following Friday's tremor.

They are protesting against one of the reservoirs being built in the �ٱ�ܳ�-��è������� department - developed by a group of 400 farmers to reduce mains water usage in the summer.

And the official study on how much water can be taken from the �ٱ�ܳ�-��è������� region’s rivers and aquifers, without negatively affecting the environment, is being done only now.

“It is very, very, very difficult to go back even when they are prohibited,” said Patrick Picaud, the vice president of the environmental organization Nature Environment 17, which has also taken the �ٱ�ܳ�-��è������� plan to court, resulting in a reduction in the number of reservoirs authorized as well as the amount of water they can hold.
